Everything is AWESOME #TheLEGOMovie {Review}

I was lucky to win 2 passes to a pre-screening of The LEGO Movie on Saturday. The bad part? I have two kids, both of whom love LEGO! So they both lost out and The Husband and I took in the show (Shhhhhh!)  They’ll get to see it once it’s released in theatres.

What can I say but quote a song in the movie: “Everything is Awesome!” This movie was fantastic. I laughed throughout the whole thing and some of the scenes were incredibly clever. For an animated feature, it moved FAST. Right from the beginning there were high adrenalin action scenes. I know, you’re thinking “in a kid’s movie?” But while this might be animated and using a child’s toy, do not for a minute think this is just a kid’s movie.

Not only was the animation fantastic (EVERYTHING was Lego. The water in the shower, clouds of smoke, fire. You name it, they did it as if it was animated LEGO blocks…or are they bricks? The movie never clarified that ;)) but it had a great message that applied to kids and adults alike. If you have a kid who loves LEGO, if YOU loved LEGO, you will love this movie. It was so perfect the way various figurines and popular sets were fit into the overall context. My personal favourite was Benny, the 1980’s Spaceman with a realistically broken space helmet and smudged decals.

I am now counting the days until it comes out in theatres and I can take my kids to see it. Seriously, go see this movie!
